A small group of 12 graduate students at the University of Houston taking a graduate class in public relations came together to advocate for a large cause. We are Standpoint and Standpoint is an initiative that we created to counter targeted violence and terrorism as well as empower a sense of community connectedness through first-person perspectives and experiences.
"The trick with microagressions is that we all do them. They are so ubiquitous that they become over-inclusive. They aren’t predictive of who may become violent. It’s a tricky focus. There is some research around hate speech and incidents that can be connected back. There could be a focus on where we’re seeking spikes in these incidents, which may ultimately escalate."
